Good Side 02A
The Live WireHow to photograph high-energy clients
Big laugh, bigger energy. You were made for photos that move.
On camera
- 01Motion is your best angle
- 02Your laugh is the money shot
- 03You make everyone around you looser
The camera doesn't scare you, it's an audience. You're at your best when something is happening: running, spinning, laughing at your own joke. Stillness is not your medium. Give you a reason to move and every frame comes alive.
For photographers
How to photograph The Live Wire
Comfortable, high-energy, expressive and independent. The risk is not stiffness, it's chaos: channel the energy into movement with a clear end point.
Warm-up
- Skip the warm-up. Start with a movement prompt in the first two minutes.
- Give them a mini challenge (race to that tree, worst catwalk) to set the tone.
Directing style
Action prompts with boundaries. Tell them where to start and stop, then let them improvise inside the frame.
Front-load energy, then use their tiredness in the last ten minutes for softer, quieter frames they wouldn't do otherwise.
Prompts that work
- 1Run toward me, and whoever arrives second has to dip the other.
- 2Spin them out and pull them back in. Again, faster.
- 3Piggyback ride, and the passenger narrates like a sports commentator.
- 4Tell them the worst joke you know. Go.
- 5Walk away from me, then turn around on three like you just heard your name.
- 6Dance like it's the last song of the night.
- 7Try to make them laugh without talking.
- 8Jump on three. No, higher.
Avoid
- Long static poses
- Over-correcting hands and posture
- Quiet, slow prompts early on (save them for the end)
- Tight framing that cuts off movement
Say / don't say
- Say“Bigger!”
- Say“Keep going, don't stop.”
- Say“Yes, do that again.”
- Not“Hold still.”
- Not“Relax your face.”
- Not“Don't move.”
