Couples photo session questionnaire

Anniversary, new home or "just because": couples sessions are about who they are right now. A short questionnaire tells you what the photos are for and how much closeness feels natural to them on camera.

When to send it

One to two weeks before the session.

Paste them into HoneyBook, Dubsado, Google Forms or an email.

Client questionnaire · Couples

About you two

  1. How long have you been together, and are you celebrating anything?
  2. Describe your relationship in three words.
  3. What's a small habit or inside joke that feels very "you"?

The photos

  1. Where will these photos live: framed at home, an album, social media, a gift?
  2. Location ideas: a favorite spot, your home, or somewhere new?
  3. Bright and outdoorsy, golden hour, or a moody evening look?
  4. Is anyone or anything joining: kids, pets, a meaningful object?

On camera

  1. On a scale from "holding hands" to "full movie kiss", how much affection feels right for you on camera?
  2. Does one of you tend to freeze up or crack jokes when a camera comes out?
  3. Is there anything you'd like me to know, privately, about how you feel in photos?

How to use the answers

  1. Match closeness to their answer

Start one notch below the affection level they chose and move up as they relax. Asking for too much too early is how sessions get stiff.

  2. Build prompts from the inside joke

A habit they named is a ready-made prompt: "Do the thing you always do in the car."

  3. Mind the joker

If one partner jokes when nervous, play along, then keep shooting in the quiet moment right after the laugh.

The question forms get wrong

Most clients don't know how they like to be directed.

So they write “we're awkward” and leave it there. Send the Good Side camera quiz with your questionnaire: two minutes on their phone, and you get their camera type and a session plan with prompts in order.
